Mrichman
After completing his medical degree at Georgetown University, Richman moved to his native home of Los Angeles to complete his general surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami.

Having performed nearly 1,000 cardiac bypass procedures throughout his career, Richman has always maintained a strong interest in the preventative aspect of cardiac care, namely cholesterol (lipid) management. As a long-standing member of the National Lipid Association, Richman started The Center for Cholesterol Management in August 2005 in order to focus exclusively on preventative care and management for those who may be at risk for heart disease.

The Center for Cholesterol Management provides state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for patients with lipid disorders. This multi-disciplinary team approach to lipid treatment comprises the efforts of physicians, nurses, dietitians, and physical therapists to offer preventative and management care for patients with high cholesterol, heart disease and those at risk for developing coronary artery disease." /> Michael Richman, MD, FACS, FCCP Physician, Active Health Library, Doctor, and Surgeon

Regeneron cholesterol drug faces sudden challenge - Yahoo! News

news.yahoo.com — “From Yahoo! News: CHICAGO (Reuters) - A new type of drug being developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc slashed levels of cholesterol almost in half when given every four weeks, but fell short of reductions reported a day earlier with once-monthly injections of Amgen Inc's rival product. How does it really feel to have a heart attack? Women survivors tell their stories | Women and Heart Disease | Scoop.it

scoop.it — “"Having a heart attack felt nothing like I thought it would feel. For one thing, unlike sudden cardiac arrest, in which the heart stops beating and you stop breathing, during my heart attack (myocardial infarction), my heart continued beating, and I was conscious throughout despite horrific symptoms – so how could I possibly be having a heart attack? "Like most women I know, I thought very little about heart disease, even though it is our #1 killer each year. Women need to know aView full resource at scoop.it

The science behind "broken heart syndrome" - Harvard Health Publications

health.harvard.edu — “Media reports describing "broken heart syndrome" often lump together two completely different conditions. One is stress cardiomyopathy, sometimes known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy. The other is myocardial infarction, better known as a heart attack. A huge sudden stress—like news that a loved one has died, experiencing an earthquake, or learning that your accountant has stolen all of your retirement savings—unleashes a torrent of stress hormones that can trigger one of those conditions.View full resource at health.harvard.edu
