Responding to Learned Helplessness in Preschoolers

When young children fail to master a desired task they may experience feelings of frustration and defeat. If this pattern is repeated a sense of learned helplessness may result. When parents, teachers and caregivers encourage children and acknowledge their ability to succeed they can avoid the development of long-term behavior pattern.
