Polio Vaccination Team in Afghanistan [PICS]

Every month, thousands of volunteers fan out across southern and eastern Afghanistan, knocking on doors to vaccinate children against poliomyelitis. While children in the U.S. receive a course of four injections of the killed polio virus in their first six years of life, kids in Afghanistan are fed an oral dose of the live virus almost monthly.
