Patient status predicts PAD surgery outcomes

PAD patients who were not able to perform activities of daily living independently had a higher incidence of death and major complications following lower bypass surgery, a new study has found. A simple preoperative assessment of functional status may therefore help to identify those who are unsuitable for surgery, say the researchers.
