Low Blood Sugar? Maybe Not.

nutritionovereasy.com

Q. I have a lot of trouble with low blood sugar. Any tips for what I should or shouldn’t be eating to help manage this? A. My first question would be whether low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is really the problem.

New tactic for controlling blood sugar in diabetes contradicts current view of the disease: Inflammation may be part of the solution, not the problem

sciencedaily.com — “Increased low-grade inflammation in the body resulting from obesity is widely viewed as contributing to type 2 diabetes. Going against this long-held belief, researchers report that two proteins activated by inflammation are actually crucial for maintaining good blood sugar levels -- and that boosting the activity of these proteins can normalize blood sugar in severely obese and diabetic mice.View full resource at sciencedaily.com

Travelling with the Omnipod....can I bring all my pump supplies for one month in a carry-on and not worry about being hassled by security? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Just started the Omnipod a few weeks ago and although I've had to replace early several times due to bad locations, I'm really having great numbers (ave. for 30 days = 130, with 10% above my goal of 180 and 3% below my goal of 70) and my biggest problem, low blood sugars during the night due to the unpredictability of Lantus, has been basically SOLVED. Here's my question, though. I'm going away for the month of August, several plane trips, and I want to know if anyone has experience carrying extView full resource at tudiabetes.org

In for the fight of my life - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Diabetes has always had a place in my life. My mom was diagnosed with type 2 in her 30's before she even got pregnant with me. My dad was diagnosed with type 2 when I was 10. Even though I grew up around it, I never understood it. Maybe that is because my mom has never taken care of herself or her diabetes. I can remember my mom taking her shots without taking her blood sugar first, always having to eat at the same times, all the lows, and having to miss out on things because of her diabetes. MISSING HIGH AND LOW BLOOD SUGARS? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Quick blog...Okay, for the past few months I've been using a CgM (Dexcom 7 Plus). I have never been in such good control of my Type 1 Diabetes in 26 years. Post CgM I'm averaging one low blood sugar per week and maybe go above 200mg/dl on average once a week.Pre-CgM I would have one or two lows a day, I would also have at least one high blood sugar around 200-250 mg/dl daily. As sick as this may sound my brain is tricking me into thinking I need to have the above. Almost like my thoughts are traView full resource at tudiabetes.org

my blood sugar questions... - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Hey. As I shared in my intro, my doc did NOT give me a diabetes diagnosis in mid-October as my fasting test came back 95. I started testing myself in mid-September and had seen 120g FBS. However, I had changed my eating habits to high fat, low carb and cut out sugar about 5 wks earlier, and I feel if i had not made those changes, my FBS would have been high enough for a dx. (not that i WANT the dx). So i continue to test myself (i use a Wavesense) and work at fine-tuning my eats to get my bloView full resource at tudiabetes.org
