Ixiaro vaccine receives Marketing Authorization in Europe for the prevention of Japanese Encephalitis

Basel, April 2, 2009 - The European Commission has granted Marketing Authorization to Ixiaro vaccine for the prevention of Japanese Encephalitis (JE). JE, a mosquito-borne flaviviral infection, results in 10,000-15,000 deaths annually[1],[2] and is a potentially life-threatening disease for travelers to Asia.
