Her Sport Medicine interests include injury prevention, physical activity promotion, concussion awareness, and healthy active women (e.g., exercise and pregnancy; stress fracture prevention; Female Athlete Triad, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis).

She works with Gymnastics Ontario, Skate Canada, soccer and hockey associations and is the current Team Physician for the Mississauga Chiefs Women's Hockey team and for Dragon’s Abreast, a breast cancer survivor Dragon Boat team. After many years of treating athletes at Seneca College, Dr. Cruz has recently joined the medical staff at the Goreman/Shore Sports Injury Clinic at York University. She has had the opportunity to be Team Physician and Chief Medical Officer for many National and World Championships.

Dr. Cruz studied and taught ballet (Cecchetti method) and continues to pursue her lifelong interest in dance as Medical Consultant for Ballet Jorgen and many local dance and performing arts schools. She is also a Founding Member of the Arts Medicine Interest Group in CASM.

As a faculty member with the University of Toronto and member of the U of T Sport Medicine Fellowship Committee Dr. Cruz is an active teacher of medical learners, including Residents and Family Medicine Physicians. Dr. Cruz is the current Chair of the Women’s Issues in Sport Medicine Committee for the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine.
