Mark Hyman, MD: Why Women Should Stop Their Cholesterol-Lowering Medication

huffingtonpost.com — “Treating risk factors like high cholesterol is misguided. We must treat causes -- what we eat, how much we exercise, how we handle stress, our social connections and environmental toxins are all more powerfully linked to creating health and preventing disease than any drug on the market.View full resource at huffingtonpost.com

Healthy Diet = Better Health; One Man's Story | Our State of Health

blogs.kqed.org — “Just 18 months ago, Ratibu Jacocks was taking a handful of pills every day: six for high blood pressure, another one for diabetes and two for high cholesterol. “I was on a chair with four legs: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and prostate cancer. The back of the chair was the grief of losing my mom. Jacocks was very ill. But today he's dramatically improved. From nine pills a day, he's down to just one -- to treat his high blood pressure. How did he turn his health around so dramView full resource at blogs.kqed.org

Grocery Shopping......a chore or a treat?? - Gluten-Free Faces

glutenfreefaces.com — “How do you handle your grocery shopping? Do you dread it, as I do? Or do you look on it as an adventure, as a friend of mine does? For me, it's a major chore and can take hours. This is not just because of the gluten free aspect of it. My parents live with me and I take care of them. My father has Alzheimer's and my mother is in the beginning stages of senility. I checked my BG this morning because I had an awful headache too and my bg was HIGH. I thought Oh great, now how do I figure a bolus? Checked with an alternate meter and figured a bolus of 8 u of Humalog. Reading is now down to 425 and I hope it continues to a more normal level. Wish I had a day off from this Diabetes. :(View full resource at tudiabetes.com
