Genetic screening for channelopathies

A new study shows that the cost of genetic testing for inherited cardiac channelopathies is reasonable in those who have a conclusive diagnosis, but for a wider population—those with an uncertain diagnosis, those affected by unexplained VF, or family members of SCD victims—the costs are mostly prohibitive, the researchers conclude. (Bai R et al. Circ Arrhythmia Electrophysiol 2009; 2:6-15.)
