Normal urination frequency can vary for each individual. Age, gender, fluid intake, fluid type, and medications can affect an individual's urinary output. The bladder can hold up to 16 ounces (2 cups) of fluid for 2 to 5 hours if the urinary system is healthy. On the average, an individual may urinate 6 to 7 times in a 24 hour period.

A study showed a majority of men urinated less than 12 times a day, averaging 7 times daily. The majority of women urinated less than 13 times a day, averaging 8 times daily.

Diabetes is a disorder of the metabolism marked by high levels of blood sugar. Diabetes occurs when the body produces too little insulin or becomes insulin resistant. When food is digested, a sugar known as glucose enters the blood and the pancreas produces insulin. Insulin moves the glucose out of the bloodstream and into the cells of the body to be used as fuel. Those with diabetes may have a problem producing enough insulin. Another cause of diabetes can be due to muscle, fat, and liver cells not responding to insulin properly.

Clinical depression is one of the most common mental illnesses, and it is very treatable. If a person's sadness does not pass with time or help from friends and family, a doctor or therapist should be seen. With treatment, more than 80% of those suffering from depression will show improvement. Without treatment, depression causes people to stop taking pleasure in things they once enjoyed. It can damage personal relationships, affect school or work performance, complicate other medical conditions, and can even be serious enough to lead to suicide.

Myelodysplasia is a group of diseases where the the bone marrow does not produce enough mature blood cells. The mature blood cells are created from stem cells. In persons with myelodysplasia, too many clones of a stem cell are created, and not enough mature red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

Most testicular cancers are discovered by the man himself when he notices a painless swelling, lump, or pain in a testicle. Changes in the testicle can be detected early by practicing monthly testicular self-examination. Self-exam is easy to do. Testicular self-examination is key to recognizing testicular cancer early. Males older than 18 years should be encouraged to perform monthly inspections of each testicle.
