FDA takes a closer look at possible cancer risks of widely used blood pressure medicines | NJ.com

The agency said it began a review of a class of drugs known as angiotensin receptor blockers after a recently published study suggested the medicines could be associated with a slight increased risk of cancer. The class of drugs includes some of the top-selling blood pressure drugs, such as Merck’s Cozaar and Avapro, a drug marketed by Bristol-Myers Squibb.
