Exploring ALS and Kidney Cancer Drug Combo for Melanoma Use

Could a drug that is now used to treat a nerve cell condition and another prescribed to treat kidney cancer be combined to combat the deadliest form of skin cancer? That is the focus of new research that has just begun at New Jersey’s only NCI-Comprehensive Cancer Center, which aims to determine safe dosing levels for the drugs known as riluzole and sorafenib when used together in the treatment of patients with melanoma.
