Here is information on these practices in labor and birth, including what they are and how to try to avoid them.” View full resource at pregnancy.about.com

Early Elective Deliveries Are Decreasing | Transforming Maternity Care
transform.childbirthconnection.org — “One year ago, the Leapfrog Group released results of their annual Hospital Survey, for the first time publicly reporting rates of early elective deliveries (inductions or planned c-sections occurring before 39 weeks without a medical reason). The results were shocking, with hospitals varying from virtually zero to well over half of elective deliveries occurring before 39 completed weeks. Last week, we partnered again with the Leapfrog Group and other organizations to publicize the release of thi” View full resource at transform.childbirthconnection.org

What are some pros and cons about epidurals and does the information vary with twins?
healthtap.com — “Epidurals are very effective for pain relief during labor. Side effects are rare, the most common being a "spinal headache" after delivery or numbness which can make pushing difficult. I do like epidurals for patients with twins in case interventions are needed for the 2nd baby, which can be very uncomfortable for mom. If a c-section is planned for twins, spinal anesthesia is typically used.” View full resource at healthtap.com
