We are writing in response to the front page article, " Diabetes ' civil war" (Nov. 23). The incidence of diabetes, both type 1 and 2, is increasing and its impact on society, both from a health and financial perspective, is astonishing. In fact, diabetes costs our country $174 billion annually, a figure that is expected to triple in the next 25 years.
