Almost everyone knows that Lyme Disease is carried by ticks and can be spread to people and pets. BUT...did you know that birds are instrumental in the spread of the disease as well? A recent study at Yale University has determined that robins, blue jays, brown thrashers and other songbirds can not only harbor the Lyme Disease bacteria...they can also carry the ticks to farther places and into your own backyard! Kind makes you want to forget about that bird feeder, doesn't it?
