Hypertension doctors are digesting the latest research that indicates that large variability in blood-pressure readings between visits may be more important in terms of outcomes than the standard office test of mean BP. How to incorporate measurements of variability into clinical trials and ultimately into everyday practice was much discussed at a special session at the recent ESH meeting.
