Battery plant boss held over poisoning

Officials in Zhejiang Province say police have detained a storage battery plant manager after scores of villagers who lived near the site suffered from lead poisoning. Authorities in Taizhou say at least 168 residents of Shangtao village became sick, with three needing treatment to reduce the levels of lead in their blood. Xinhua News Agency says the general manager of the battery firm is now facing environmental pollution charges.
