In this article, we have reviewed the available literature on the underlying pathophysiology of atopic asthma and sickle cell disease, and how it translates into clinical manifestations seen in these conditions. We have also reviewed and discussed available treatment strategies for asthma in sickle cell disease, which would be helpful for clinicians caring for sickle cell patients.
