air travel with Insulin Pens, etc. - TuDiabetes

My teen son will be traveling alone on an airplane. He has done this alone before, but he didn't have Diabetes yet! Will there be any difficulty with getting through the checkpoints with all his paraphernalia? I wonder if the person sitting next to him will be nervous if they see him pull out a needle??? (He doesn't use a pump yet)
