Am I the only diabetic that eats what they want? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Back long ago when someone was diagnosed with diabetes they were told to avoid certain foods and sugar. All sweets were off limits. But in more modern day times that is changing.... Now I thought that my fellow diabetics would understand this. For example eating a baked potato can increase glucose just as much as a donView full resource at tudiabetes.org

tudiabetes.org — “Hi I'm still new to this. I just got my first bg tester. And I am trying to test my bg levels to see what food I can eat. I was wondering what the bg level should be after eating? And is there a number before eating that you think it is best not too eat anything? If it is too high, I mean? I know it will come down if I don't eat... My bg level rises to 8 or 9 or even higher after eating, shouldn't it be below 7? What should it idealy be after 1 hour? And after 2 hours? Food that does'nt hurt - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.com — “Arrrgghhh. It has been hard for me to be able to find foods that are not going to mess with my sugar. It sees that the foods that are suppossed to be good for you end up being bad for you. It is a constant struggle to be able to buy foods that will not send me on a sugar rollercoaster. Growning up I was always told that fruit is good for you and that you should eat it as much as possible. Now I hear that if you have a blood suagr disease then you should stay away from most fruits. Can one avoid a high post-meal spike at the one hour mark if you do not use carbohydrate restriction? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “As a moderately active, not sedentary, adult, can you avoid blood sugar spikes of 180 to 200 at the one hour mark after a 60 gram carbohydrate meal? If so, what techniques do you use? (a) prebolusing? (b) overbolusing? (c) superbolusing (d) slight exercise after eating, such as a walk? I am assuming the meal does not contain sugary foods, yet does contain a starch, such as rice, potato or pasta, along with protein and a small amount of fat.View full resource at tudiabetes.org

A gastric bypass question - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “If there is another place I should post this, I am sorry. Is it true that IF you have type II diabetes before your surgery, afterwards, your diabetes is cured as in gone?I am not understanding this, as they aren't fixing your pancreas, it's still damaged. But I can see that if you lose weight, that will only help. But with the reduction in food intake, I would think it would make your pancreas work harder to produce what it hasn't produced before.....Please explain to me. The Birthday Cake Alternative? Help! - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “This week at my job there were at least three cakes for various birthdays in my department. I didn't eat any of them, not even a sliver. Not even an accidental frosting lick (you know what I mean). My birthday is at the end of the year and everyone knows I am Diabetic so they better not get a cake. But then what should they get? I was thinking diet Jello shooters or Sugar Free Pudding shots. Something fun that can be shared. Does anyone else have any ideas?View full resource at tudiabetes.org

Stay out of my food life - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “I am not a witch. I am a normal woman who loves her family and friends. But I like my privacy. When I ignore a person's comments, I don't expect to be badgered about it.My gastric-by-pass friend has had a transplant to go with her by pass. Now she knows what is good for me, and that I should do this almost starving diet that her doc put her on before her surgery. She calls it Atkins cut . Check blood sugar - When is 2 hours after meal? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.com — “Everything says to check blood glucose 2 hours after a meal, but when exactly does that 2 hours begin. I typically do it 2 hours after I take my insulin, so if I am high, I wait to eat until my blood sugar has dropped. I read something that says you should check BG 2 hours after your first bite and your meal should never last more than 30 minutes. They said that way you see how your body is reacting to the food. What do you find to be the most correct or works best for you?View full resource at tudiabetes.com
