Plasmacytoid Urothelial Carcinoma of the Bladder: A Rare Malignancy
content.karger.com — “In 2004, the WHO recognized the plasmacytoid subtype as a distinct variant of vesical malignancy. We present a case of plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma of the bladder treated with radical surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy, thus achieving long-term survival. A 70-year-old woman presented with persistent dysuria and underwent cystoscopy which revealed the presence of diffuse deformity, involving the right lateral vesical wall. Histology revealed the presence of muscle-invasive urothelial carcinom” View full resource at content.karger.com

First Genetic Sequencing Of Urothelial (Transitional) Carcinoma - QualityPoint Technologies
qualitypointtech.net — “In an article published online in Nature Genetics, a University of Colorado Cancer Center team in partnership with universities in China and Denmark reports the first genetic sequencing of urothelial (transitional) carcinoma, the most prevalent type of bladder cancer. Recognizing the genetic mutations that make bladder cancer cells different than their healthy neighbors may allow early genetic screenings for cancer and new therapies targeting cells with these mutations...” View full resource at qualitypointtech.net

Clinical Quiz: High-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma Invading Lamina Propria - Renal and Urology News
renalandurologynews.com — “A 63-year-old otherwise healthy male is referred for evaluation of hematuria. A computed tomography urogram reveals a tumor on left lateral wall. The patient undergoes a transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) that demonstrates high-grade urothelial carcinoma with invasion of the lamina propria (T1). Muscularis propria is present and is uninvolved. Random bladder biopsies at the time of transurethral resection demonstrate normal mucosa.” View full resource at renalandurologynews.com
