Resource Description:

As a National Cancer Institute center, we are recognized as one of the finest cancer centers in the United States. It's one of the reasons that more than 9,000 adults and children with cancer come to us for their care each year. UC Davis Cancer Center's research program is unique in the nation. It is a model partnership that unites physicians and scientists from throughout the university with biomedical researchers and engineers from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (home to the world's most powerful computer and a Human Genome Project center). Every day, our light physicists, biomedical engineers and oncologists partner with experts in dozens of other fields. All told, we have nearly 300 scientists working fulltime to make the breakthroughs that will offer cancer patients fresh hope. It's a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach that sets UC Davis apart. And it's good news for our many patients, who stand to be the first to benefit from our advances.
