Cortisol and corticosterone are proposed as immune hormones which activate the immune system inversely by declining. Cortisol is for potassium losing intestinal diseases and coticosterone is for serum diseases. Stress is factored in because most systems which enhance ability to withstand stress decrease ability to defend against pathogens
