2. Eat for relief
While many foods cause heartburn, others have been proven to relieve it. If you’re suffering from heartburn, try these easy-to-find household foods that may soothe your burning ache: Swallow a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar; eat an apple, banana or celery, which are all natural antacids; suck on a whole dried clove; or consider swallowing a teaspoon of mustard. Other foods with less consistent results: eat a fresh mint leaf – it may make it worse, but it could make it better, run a cooked potato through a juicer and drink the juice, or try drinking a glass of milk.
