- Dr. Vreeman is an assistant professor of pediatrics in Children's Health Services Research and in the section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She is the co-author of two popular books debunking common medical myths, Don't Swallow Your Gum! Myths, Half-Truths, and Outright Lies about Your Body and Health and Don't Cross Your Eyes... They'll Stay That Way and 75 other health myths debunked. Dr. Vreeman is co-director of pediatric research for the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH), an academic collaboration that provides comprehensive HIV treatment for over 125,000 patients in Kenya. Dr. Vreeman\'s research work focuses on the development of instruments to improve children\'s health care within resource-limited settings. Dr. Vreeman graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a BA in English. She received her MD from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, and completed her internship, residency, and a chief residency in pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She also completed a fellowship in Children's Health Services Research and a masters degree in clinical research at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
