Primary teeth are the first set of teeth. They develop inside the gums before birth. These first teeth are important for speech and chewing. They also hold the space for permanent teeth.1

Fast Facts:

  • Also called deciduous, baby or milk teeth.2
  • Typically start to come through the gum between 6 to 12 months of age.2
  • Loss usually starts around the age of 6 years.2
