Research Notes on Parkinson's Disease Prevention


Parkinson's disease (PD) is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system and belongs to a group of conditions called movement disorders.1 There is no known way to prevent Parkinson's disease but there are medicines such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or L-dopa that can help control the symptoms of the disease. Further studies for the prevention of PD are ongoing.2

  • Nicotine in its organic form (not consumed in cigarettes) may help prevent Parkinson’s disease and also help suppress the condition.4
