As a leader in telemental health, online counseling and online therapy, Dr. Marlene Maheu consults with large health and mental health insurance companies, community clinics and centers, physician groups, universities, and independent practitioners. She has pioneered many effots in support of telehealth since 1994. She was the first independent practitioner to develop an online consumer portal for psychology worldwide. She was also the first psychologist to write a telehealth-related academic and professional book . She has served on over a dozen telehealth-related task forces and committees, not only at the American Psychological Associated, but also at the American Counseling Association, the California Psychological Association and the American Telemedicine Association.
She is the Executive Director of the TeleMental Health Institute, where professionals of all mental health disciplines can earn continuing education in the first Certificate Program in Telemental Health.
