A maintenance inhaler is an inhaled medication that is used daily to help prevent asthma symptoms.1 Over time, maintenance inhalers can help patients become less sensitive to asthma triggers. Maintenance inhalers are not meant to replace rescue inhalers that treat acute asthma flare-ups.
