Carb Ratio Testing on Pump - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “I've started another round of carb ratio testing to really nail down the settings on my pump. My basal rate looks great and I'm now testing the amount of insulin I give myself for specific grams of carbohydrate. Does anybody have thoughts as to how many grams of food you should eat when testing carb ratios? I normally eat about 45 grams at each meal but have upped my food to 90 grams to test my carb ratio. I figured the more I challenge my insulin with food using the current ratios I have, the mView full resource at tudiabetes.org

How do a childs blood sugars compare to an adult? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Hi :) I tested my two year old nephew's blood sugar around 10:45 this morning and he hadn't eaten since breakfast cause we were at church. We didn't really have a reason to test him but my sister just wanted me to when I was doing my own. Anyway my question is should a child's be the same as an adult? I think I might have heard once that children run a little higher but I just wasn't sure. His was 80. I just wondered cause if a child runs higher we thought that might be a little low. Thanks soooView full resource at tudiabetes.org

ADA Diet, Low-Carb, or Vegan? What gives?! Which diet should be right for you? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Lately, I've been perusing different forum sites, to find the most support I can for my Diabetes, and I have noticed just how preachy we can get sometimes, as diabetics, about what has worked for us to attain control. It's not surprising. We really get excited, and we all want to let the world know about our new diet, or exercise routine, bolusing or med schedule. We often think that what we are doing for ourselves, since it has worked wonders, needs to automatically apply for the rest of the diView full resource at tudiabetes.org

Do nurses test blood glucose readings during surgery? - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.org — “Hi Peoples, I'm having surgery for fractured ankle which involves anesthesia. I've been having lots of surprise lows and am afraid I'll slip into coma while under during surgery. How often do theymonitor BG during surgery and can I trust them to do it? Is it the doctor performing surgery or the anesthesiologist who is responsible for this? What do you think about writing a reminder with black marker on my leg to check my BG? Can you tell I might be a control freak? Feeling a little apprehensive View full resource at tudiabetes.org

Basal Testing Day - D Minus - TuDiabetes

tudiabetes.com — “After experiencing some wacky daytime blood sugars (BG's) during the last week, I decided to go ahead and test out my basal settings on my Animas 2020 insulin pump today. I have never a daytime basal testing before, sad to say, and as in my prevous blog, I had asked others - how often do you test your basal rates? . No comments yet, and it makes me wonder, are they like myself, not finding the time to test their basal rates, when perhaps we should from time to time when BG's become abit wacky? Fearless Blood Sugar Monitoring: How to do a blood sugar log - Diabetes and ME

diabetesandmindfuleating.com — “Megrette Fletcher, M.Ed., R.D., CDE, and Michelle May, M.D. Your Hemoglobin A1C test is like a 3-month report card for diabetes. It helps both you and your healthcare provider know how your overall diabetes self-management is going. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do much more than that. Most importantly, it doesn’t tell you what is or isn’t working. Often, people don’t think of checking their blood as a learning opportunity. Instead they say, “I don’t want to know” or “I ate too much so I already knoView full resource at diabetesandmindfuleating.com

Triglycerides - huh? - TuDiabetes

If my blood sugar is within or close to limits, do I need to worry about triglycerides? If my triglycerides are not where they should be, how would I know? Is this another test I need to get done? Can a treatment regime, drugs and diet and exercise, that is good for blood sugar levels be bad for triglycerides? I have heard that in some people certaView full resource at tudiabetes.org
