In 2011, I returned to clinical practice after working in the Internet industry. My goal is to offer services that are above and beyond "normal" care. I do not maintain a physical office; instead, I visit patients and their families in their homes in Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, a charming historic section of Brooklyn, New York City. For everyone else, and I use Skype, the telephone, and email to “visit” with my patients. The care is always high quality regardless of method.

When it comes to weight control, I am committed to a flexible, realistic and personal approach. I do not believe in fad diets or unnecessary diet pills. I do believe in making informed choices based on your values and preferences, with a clear understanding of the consequences, for better or for worse. Throughout my career, I have used a "Non-Diet Approach" to weight control, which emphasizes appetite regulation and learning to solve emotional problems without using food. For medical problems that require a therapeutic diet, I teach my patients how to choose specific foods in the correct amounts for their optimal health. I nutritious, well-prepared food and physical activity performed in the total health.

My patient services include dietary and nutritional status assessment, food and nutrition counseling and education, personalized diet and activity plans, and coordination of care with family or others at your request. To read about my services and to book an appointment, visit my website and blog at AskMaryRD.com

In addition to my clinical practice, I provide services as a brand ambassador, social marketing expert, speaker, writer, digital content adviser, and media personality.  I focus on special projects, products and services in the areas of food and nutrition and related IT." /> Mary Hartley, RD, MPH Nutritionist, Dietitian, and Active Health Library

Wyoming Food Freedom Act | Food Renegade

foodrenegade.com — “Remember the Pennsylvania Pie Gate? Little old ladies forbidden to serve homemade pies at a Church Fish Fry? Well, that sort of thing won't happen in Wyoming. Acting as if | Mentoring and Recovery

blogs.psychcentral.com — “There is an often-quoted Twelve Step principle that I have not paid much attention to....until recently. Recently, while reading a book my own mentor recommended to me (Marianne Williamson's A Return to Love) I stumbled across it again (my mentor's a subtle gal, let me tell you!) Acting as if. As Marianne explains it, I am starting to understand the importance of this principle for the first time. For instance, when we see our fear - of socializing, food, intimacy, growing up, being responsible,View full resource at blogs.psychcentral.com

    Mary Hartley, RD, MPH

I have been a registered dietitian and leader in the nutrition field for 35 years, which sounds longer than it actually feels to me.  But nutrition is my lifelong calling and my enthusiasm as only grows stronger over time.

I have worked in HMOs, clinics, medical practices, teaching hospitals, universities, and probably every possible healthcare setting helping people of all ages with all kinds of medical conditions to benefit from medical nutrition therapy.  I had a successful private practice in Providence, Rhode Island for 15 years, and all together, I have had more than 20,000 patient visits for obesity, eating disorders, and medical nutrition therapy for chronic conditions. In Rhode Island, I was the preferred nutritionists for over 100 referring physicians, psychiatric social workers, physical trainers, and other health professionals.  To view my experience, please visit my LinkedIn page.
