When seasonal flu comes out to play this fall, it'll probably be joined by a new friend: a novel strain of H1N1 influenza that emerged this spring and caused havoc around the globe. And, while manufacturers are still scrambling to make enough of a new H1N1 vaccine to go around, local experts say it's good hygiene and common sense that will serve as the next best preventive measures. Peter Pendergrass, regional medical director for the Department of State Health Services Region 1, said he expects the next round of H1N1 flu -- originally called swine flu -- to be similar to the spring outbreak.
