He directed the first randomized control trial on the affect of lifestyle changes and prostate cancer.
He is a member of the board of directors for the U.S. United Nations High Commission on Refugees, the Quincy Jones Listen Up Foundation, and the Wheelchair Foundation.
He has been appointed to The White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy.
Dr. Ornish has also been elected to the California Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Ornish was featured in the 1996 version of People Magazines Most Interesting People, and chosen by Life Magazine as one of the 50 most influential members of his generation.
