Nausea and hives/itching - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “I just started my 4th month on Byetta (3 months at 10mcg). I also take 2000 mg of Metformin XR daily. Has anyone else developed what may or may not be an allergic reaction to Byetta? I developed hives and itching on my neck and lower face a month ago, and I still have the itchiness. Other possible causes are having taken an antibiotic and after having tried a new skin cream. During my first month of Byetta, hives developed at injection sites. That has not occurred since. My other question: when y” View full resource at tudiabetes.org

ITCHING around and under the placement of the pod - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “Hi... Has anyone experienced itching on the skin around the adhesive of the pod or underneath the adhesive of the pod? If so, do you have ANY helpful suggestions to stopping the itching or even reducing the itching? My son Rob is going insane itching his skin around the pod and at times trying to get under the adhesive to itch. I have tried lotion and this morning hydrocortisone cream. Currently I have a wrist band around the pod to hopefully help take the itching off his mind because he is on t” View full resource at tudiabetes.org

IV Prep makes my son itch - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “We've been pumping about a month, and my son complains that the area around the site itches. I think it's because the IV prep dries him out. I've tried putting lotion or cortisone around it, which relives the itching but also releases the adhesive on the site. Any suggestions? The tape around the site doesn't leave a rash or anything, so I don't think that's what's bothering him. We use the Animas Insets.” View full resource at tudiabetes.org

I can't stand the itching!!! - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “I am doing a trial of the Dex, and although I'm happy with the accuracy, I am going insane with itchiness under the tape! It doesn't seem to be the wire part under the skin that's itching, it's more the skin under and all around the tape. The only relief I get is spraying some CortAid on it, but the relief only lasts an hour or so. I am so discouraged. I don't want to have to send this back (I have about 14 days left to return the Dex), but I just can't stand the itching! (This is my second sens” View full resource at tudiabetes.org

Scars, rashes, itching and Omnipod vacation - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “I just got back from the dermatologist and she did a full body scan. I am continuing to have skin problems. I continue to break out and have rashes on my stomach, legs, and arms. Places where I've put the pods. She asked me if I've ever thought about doing Lantus instead. I see my endocrinologist in two weeks. I've talked to him before about this problems and the only thing they suggest is cortizone on the itch/rash. His nurse tells me to tell her what the dermatologist says. Is a pump vacation” View full resource at tudiabetes.org

The Inflammation-Diabetes Connection | KM Nutrition
kmnutrition.com — “What is Inflammation? Inflammation is the body’s reaction to infection or injury. Classic signs of inflammation are redness, swelling and pain. Living in Minnesota the example I think of is a mosquito bite, where you feel very little pain but you get the annoying redness, swelling and itching. That’s an obvious inflammatory reaction that is temporary.” View full resource at kmnutrition.com

red bumps at injection site - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “Hi. I'm a type 1, on multiple daily injections since my diagnosis in 2008. I use my butt, thighs and upper arms for injections, being careful to rotate sites. More than a month ago, I developed 2 irritated red bumps on my upper thigh. They hurt/itched for a while, and then stopped -- but they haven't gone away. They're still red and hard and feel sort of like scar tissue. I've been using the same insulin and same brand of needles, so I don't think it's an allergic reaction. Has anybody experien” View full resource at tudiabetes.org

What's the maximum amount of time I can leave a sensor in? - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “My first Dexcom sensor lasted 3 weeks and may have lasted longer but I decided to remove it because it just didn't seem okay to leave it in any longer. I removed the transmitter each time the sensor end time came around and looked at the insert area and it was fine (no itching, pain, discharge, discoloration, swelling, etc.). My second sensor is on it's second week and I'm wondering again, if it lasts like the first one did, how long can I leave it in?” View full resource at tudiabetes.org

Reaction to adhesive - TuDiabetes
tudiabetes.org — “Hi, My daughter has been on the Omnipod since November and we absolutely love everything about it. Lately though, she has been itching and the skin under her pod is red all over. She has also had a little raised bump at the insertion site a couple of times. I am guessing that either it is just this batch of pods or maybe her skin is developing an intolerance to the adhesive. I see that there are a few skin barriers out there and wondered if anyone has had this issue and cleared it up using a ski” View full resource at tudiabetes.org
