Confirmed cases of the newly developed H1N1 swine flu virus have popped up across North America and several locations around the globe. Mexico is still the most heavily affected country, and many cases elsewhere are linked to travel there. The first reported cases in the United States occurred in late March and early April 2009 in Southern California and near San Antonio, Texas, according to the CDC.
