Bruce Hopper Jr MD founded Hopper Medicine in 2010 to recreate the experience of Old-Fashioned medicine where empowered patients collaborate with their physician. No more intrusion from politicians and insurance companies.
Prior to Hopper Medicine, Dr. Hopper spent five years at the prestigious Rothman Institute, where he gained world-class experience caring for thousands of patients. The perfect first job. Highlights included a position as team physician with the Philadelphia Phillies and watching them win the 2008 World Series. He is the proud owner of a World Series ring.
As time moved forward, however, he learned from his patients their frustrations with the furious pace of volume-driven office visits. He further realized patients unknowingly relinquish their “rights” as the true “customer” of care when they contract with insurance companies.
He partnered with technology company Myca, who developed the world’s only patient-centered HelloHealth platform. Dr. Hopper’s patients interact with him not only in his office or on a housecall but also through email, videochat, and instant messaging.
Dr. Hopper received a BA from Williams College and an MD from Jefferson Medical College. He completed a Family Medicine residency as well as a Sports Medicine fellowship, both at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Hopper is double Board-Certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine.
