Bio
Dr. Brody earned his BA in biology from the New York University College of Arts and Sciences and his RN, Masters of Science, and Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing. During his doctorate, he was named a John A Hartford Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity Scholar. He completed a post-doctorate in health services palliative care from the Sutter Health Institute for Research and Education. Following his post-doctorate, he moved to New York where he became an Assistant Professor at the NYU College of Nursing and the James J Peters Bronx VA Medical Center. Dr. Brody's program of research focuses on how improved symptom assessment and management of the elderly effects quality of life, healthcare utilization, and healthcare costs. He also performs research examining the effects of palliative care on health services outcomes. Dr. Brody is a board certified geriatric nurse practitioner specializing in caring for homebound elderly patients with dementia and behavioral disturbances. He has published and reviewed work for multiple journals and books, was a 2010 Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Research Scholar and currently serves on the HPNA Research Committee and the American Cancer Society Palliative Care and Symptom Management study section.
